SLAUGHTER IN MILLS’ BACKYARD

The gruesome murder of innocent people, mostly through ethnic clashes, continues unabated. It all started at Nakpanduri in the Northern Region, when the Konkomba and the Bimoba ethnic groups engaged in an exchange of gunfire, resulting in casualties on both sides.

Just Tuesday, this week, a misunderstanding over who owned a parcel of land also led to the slaughtering of four people at Tindongo in the Upper East Region.

The latest to join in these brutal killings of fellow human beings is Ekumfi Nakwa near Otuam, the birth place of President Mills. So far, three people have been killed in ethnic clashes between Ewe and Fante communities in the town.

The clashes occurred following the death of a 60-year-old Fante man, Nana Eguase, who was   killed and buried on his farm on Wednesday. Nana Eguase’s head was severed and the headless body buried in a shallow grave.
The gruesome infuriated members of deceased’s community, who, according to the Municipal Chief Executive of Mfantseman East and Chairman of the Municipal Security Committee (MUSEC), Henry Kweku Hayfron, launched an attack on the Ewe community, suspecting that they might be behind the killing.

The attack and counter-attack resulted in the death of two people with several others injured.  The headless body of the elderly man has been deposited at the Central Regional Hospital mortuary, while the police have mounted a vigorous search for the culprits.

The body of a 40-year-old man, Kojo Munka, who also lost his life during the clashes, has also been deposited at the Central Regional Hospital.
