Sefa Kayi, Ambolley, Kwabena Kwabena & Lucky Mensah unveiled as Peace Ambassadors
As part of the programme to celebrate two decades of peaceful democracy, and to ensure the sustainability of peaceful elections, the organisers of the ‘Portrait of the Johns,’ Pure Creations, have appointed four renowned personalities in Ghana as Peace Ambassadors.
The affable Krokrokoo presenter on Peace FM, Chairman Kwami Sefa Kayi, an accomplished musician, Mr. Gyedu Blay Ambolley, the current highlife artiste of the year, Music Maestro Kwabena Kwabena, Prince of highlife, Lucky Mensah, and an up and coming higlife guru, Michael Adamgba, have all pledged their commitment to propagate issues that will bring about peace in the country, before, during, and after elections, by using their field of specialty.
Kwami will use his platform on Peace FM to promulgate peaceful elections, whilst the musicians will also propagate peace at four peace concerts to be held in Kumasi, Tamale, Takoradi and Accra.
The first batch of celebrities appointed was to coincide with 28th April, which marks exactly 20 years (1992-2012) when Ghanaians voted in a referendum that ushered the country into its democratic dispensation.
The ambassadors will have the privilege to autograph the peace flag, which is expected to be autographed first by President John Atta Mills, former President Jerry John Rawlings, and John Agyekum Kufuor.
The Peace Flag, which is the flag of Ghana, will as well be autographed by some clergy, sportsmen/women, security capos, politicians, traditional leaders, statesmen/women and some one million Ghanaians across the country, to symbolise their pledge for peaceful elections.
We intend to present the Peace Flag to all the various presidential and parliamentary candidates for their autographs to symbolize their commitment to peaceful, free and fair elections.
The Peace Flag would finally be handed to the National Peace Council on the day of honouring the three Johns.
Some of the dignitaries supposed to autograph the flag include: Vice President John D. Mahama, former Vice President H.E Aliu Mahama, the Chairman of the National Peace Council, Most Reverend Prof. Emmanuel Asante, Dr. Kwadwo Afari Gyan, Electoral Commissioner, Nana Akufo Addo, presidential candidate of the NPP, the Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Georgina Wood, the Speaker of Parliament, Her Ladyship Joyce Bamford Addo, the Majority Leader, Cletus Avoka, the Minority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu.
