Standard Chartered Bank Ghana Limited has announced the appointment of Andrew Okai, the Bank’s Head of Consumer Banking to its Board. Andy’s appointment, which comes a month after assuming office as Consumer Banking Head is, however, subject to the necessary regulatory approval.
Mr. Andy has served in various capacities in the Wholesale Bank, Consumer Bank and General Management divisions in different locations across Africa and Asia within the Standard Chartered Group. In his new capacity as an Executive Director of the Bank, he is expected to bring his wealth of experience to the benefit of the Bank’s Board.
Commenting on his new appointment, Andrew Okai said;”My appointment to the Board is a clear demonstration of the opportunities the Bank affords its staff. I intend to leverage on my experience to help the Bank deliver above expectation to all stakeholders in order to position itself at the forefront of excellent financial service delivery in Ghana”.
Mr. Andy, a product of Mfantsipim School, Cape Coast, Kuban Technological University, Russia and Henley Management College, United Kingdom, joined Standard Chartered Bank Ghana in 1997.
During his early years with the Bank in Ghana, he was responsible for carving out a leadership position with key client segments within Wholesale Banking. He subsequently headed the retail distribution function, focusing on the delivery of sales, service and cost efficiencies across the branch network and played a key role in the overall repositioning of the consumer bank.
In 2005, he relocated on international assignment to the Group’s largest profit centre – Hong Kong, where he was involved with strategy and corporate governance in the office of the Chief Executive.
