Cost-sensitive mobile phone users who have always wanted to have access to an affordable smart dual SIM phone that comes with GPRS/internet connectivity and features of a smart phone now have their needs met, with the introduction of the Samsung Chief Hero phone.
Designed specifically for the African market, the Chief Hero phone enables users to automatically switch between two (2) SIM cards in addition to connecting with family and friends on facebook, browsing on the internet and sending and receiving text messages. The phone also has 1.8” TFT screen, MP3 and FM Radio.
Besides giving users an 11-hour talk time, 550 hours of standby time and long battery life, the phone also supports 13 languages including Yoruba, Swahili and Igbo, and will soon include Twi, meaning that users in Ghana will soon be able to send text messages in Twi.
“Following the successful launch of our Chief range earlier this year, we have seen that there is a need for mobile phones that suit the unique needs of developing countries and more importantly, Africa,” says Jaco van Zyl, Product Manager: HHP Business Groupat Samsung Africa.
“As such, the Samsung Chief Hero mobile phone is a Smartdual-SIM phone that is targeted at these markets.”
“Whether users want to take advantage of different calling plans, or want to keep their business and personal calls separate, Always On Smart dual-SIM handsets provides the convenience of two cell phones with one-mobile solution.
“There is a perception that low-cost mobile phones are not reliable. Samsung is proud to say that our Chief Hero is not only cost-effective and reliable, but it is also ultra-durable – and with great battery life, and with African local language support – the Samsung Chief Hero is certainly designed with the African consumer in mind,” concludes van Zyl.
A significant percentage of mobile phone users in Africa carry multiple SIM cards to take advantage of the different pricing plans on offer from the various operators. By allowing these users to automatically switch between two SIM cards without having to carry an additional handset or turn off the phone to swop out a SIM, Samsung is helping to meet a critical need in the market with Smart Dual SIM technology which allows both SIM cards to be active and ‘always on’. The Samsung Chief Hero mobile phone will be available from September.
