It was a host and win affair for Samsung Electronics as they emerged winners of the maiden edition of the Samsung Corporate League. Organised by Lizzy Sports Complex and sponsored by Samsung, the Samsung Corporate League is the first ever small sided football tournament.

It brought together young corporate executives from different industries, including telecommunication, banking and insurance, media, among others with Samsung Electronic topping all teams to walk away with medals, trophies and Samsung galaxy mobile devices as their prizes.

Speaking on their success, Captain of the Samsung team and Managing Director of Electroland, a Samsung Distributor, Nour Seklaoui commended his team for the hard work they put in, stressing that ‘we are very much proud of ourselves and our achievement. We have been consistent throughout the league and we are happy it has paid off. We will look forward to the next league’.

Dynamic Executives, Ash foam and Nestle placed second, third and fourth respectively, with Charles Osei Asibey emerging as Coach of the Season.

Samsung Electronics has played a key role in sports development on the Africa continent in recent years with its flagship annual youth sports programme dubbed ‘Samsung-Chelsea Youth Football Clinic’ that gives young children a unique opportunity to be part of the famous Chelsea Football Training Programme.  Samsung’s commitment to African football is further shown with the launch of series of interactive live and online events for fans to gather and share the excitement of the Orange Africa Cup of Nations and has also rallied fans across the continent to show their passion for the game.

‘Samsung’s sponsorship of the Chelsea Football Club, IAAF World Championships in Athletics, the London Games of 2012, the 2014 Olympic Winter Games, the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio and the African Cup of Nations is a testimony of our commitment to sports in all regions globally. Samsung views consistent sports sponsorship as a vital way of contributing to global society’, stated Richard Nunekpeku, Marketing Manager for Consumer Electronics at Samsung
