Queensland School Donates To KBTH Children’s Ward

 

The Ghana Parents Association for Childhood Cancers (GHAPACC), in support of Queensland International School, has donated items worth GH¢30,000 to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital Children’s Block, Oncology Daycare Ward.

The school, on Tuesday, delivered the items which consisted of Examination Couch, Trolleys over bed, Procedure trolley, patient monitor, procedure lamp, and laryngoscope, sphygmo with paed cuff.

The rest are cots, theatre stools, bedside lockers, drugs trolley, extra paed cuff and beds.

The Executive Director of the school, Dr. Adjei-Maafo, during the presentation, indicated that the school was able to raise the funds for the donation through the support of the Parent and Teacher Association (PTA).

He said the school had noted some needs of the wards, and would continue to be in support of the children’s block.

The head of children health, Prof. Bamenla Goka, received the equipments on behalf of the ward, and thanked the teachers and students for the support.

She also used opportunity announce some needs of the ward, saying, “We are grateful for the equipments. But we still need equipments to administer treatment to children for them to get better.”

She, therefore, called on organisations and institutions to assist the ward, since the hospital wanted to reconstruct the former Out Patient Department (OPD) into an emergency ward.

The head of the unit also advised the children to eat lot fruits and engage in activities that would exercise their bodies.
