President Mills has likened his electoral chances to Joseph Agbeko’s recent boxing victory, when the new International Boxing Federation (IBF) champion called on him yesterday at the castle.
The Prez said his almost two years tenure of office could be likened to a boxing contest, in which he was leading on points.
In a short address at the Castle, he revealed that he was now in round two of the bout, after Joseph Agbeko called on President Mills to present to him the International Boxing Federation (IBF) belt.
“I am now in round two of the contest, and at the end of the fourth round, my opponents will be knocked down,” Prez Mills said amidst smiles.
He praised Agbeko for doing Ghana proud by reclaiming his title from the unbeaten Colombian champion, Yonnhy Perez, in the US a few days ago.
President Mills promised the boxer a befitting reward at the appropriate time and pointed out that he will ensure that the many talents that abound in the country are nurtured.
Agbeko arrived home from the US yesterday, where he reclaimed his IBF title from Perez, beating him empathically on a unanimous point decision. He faces Abner Marez in May for a unification title fight.
