Police, Sharkia hit town

…For hockey tourney

Egyptian hockey heavyweights -Sharkia and Police, yesterday arrived in the country, seven clear days before the bully off of the hockey festival, scheduled for December 9 to 18, at the National Hockey Stadium.

The two teams, comprising their male and female counterparts, made up of 18 players and five officials each, were met on arrival at the Kotoka International Airport, Accra, by the LOC protocol team, headed by Madam Elizabeth King.

Revelations from the LOC indicates that the rest of the teams will be arriving for the ten day hockey fiesta next week.

Meanwhile, Yobe Queens and Heartland, both from Nigeria, will set the tone for the competition on December 9, in the ladies category at 7am. Telkom Orange, Kenya and Sharkia (ladies) will take their turn at 9am, while Yobe (Men) take on Strathmore, Kenya, in the men’s division in the afternoon.

Egypt’s Police will cross swords with Ghana’s Trustees at 3pm, with Extinguishers of Fire Service playing Prisons’ Reformers in an all Ghanaian affair at 5pm in another ladies game, with Golden Sticks of Commercial Bank facing Niger Flikers of Nigeria.
