Police impound ammunitions

THE POLICE in Kumasi have impounded ten guns from the room of one Otuo Acheampong in Ogua, near Effiduase in the Ashanti region.

According to the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Augustine Gyenin, the operation was carried out upon a tip-off.

He said the cache was made up of one short gun, two double barrel guns, three pump action guns, 2 powerful locally manufactured gun, a foreign nine-milimetre ‘Tanfoglow’ pistol with 78 mm amour cartridges and 28 cartridges.

According to DCOP Gyennin the police are yet to   get into contact with Mr. Otuo Acheampong to assist them in investigations, as he was not back from Accra when the Police visited his residence on Friday morning.

DCOP Gyenin said the police are yet to ascertain whether the impounded weapons are licensed or not. He appealed to members of the public to collaborate with the Police to smoke out the bad nuts in society to make it a better place to live in.
