By Fatima Adam

Information reaching The Chronicle indicates that the police had arrested a young man, who was caught removing the posters of the flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo, at Alhaji, a suburb of Accra.

Officials at the Mile 7 Police Station in Accra, gave the suspect’s name as Amoabeng, and told The Chronicle that  residents of the area woke up to see Amoabeng angrily destroying the posters of the flag bearer of the main opposition NPP.

According to the Police, only the timely intervention of the police prevented some enraged residents of the squalor suburb of Accra from lynching the suspect.

An eyewitness who spoke on condition of anonymity told The Chronicle that the presence of the police personnel did not stop Amoabeng from perpetrating the act, which is against the electoral laws of the country.

The police are conducting further investigations into the matter.
