Otumfuo Charity Fund supports Akyeremade
From Ernest Best Anane
The Otumfuo Charity Educational Fund has donated learning materials to the Akyeremade D/A School to help improve the educational level in the Atwima Kwanwoma District.
The materials included work books, wall clocks and story books.
The marketing coordinator of the fund, Mr. Alfred Kyei Sarpong, said the workbooks would help the students to practice at home what they are taught in school, and urged parents and guardians to make the education of their wards a priority, because it was the best legacy they could leave their children.
He indicated that the Otumfuo Charity Educational Fund would start full operations in August. This donation was to support the students.
The foundation, initiated by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, aims at helping the poor and needy, but brilliant students.
The Circuit Officer of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Mr. Richmond Swanzy, who received the items, thanked Mr. Alfred Kyei Sarpong and his team for the wonderful gesture, and promised to use them for the intended purpose.
Nana Fosu Adutwum II, Chief of Akyeremade, said education was his priority, and that he would work hard to raise the education standards in the community.
He appealed to the Otumfuo Charity Fund to consider offering scholarships to poor and needy students in the area.
