The Chief of Benso in the Central Region and Life Patron of the African Faith Tabernacle Church, Nana Richmond Kwadjo Aggrey V, has donated over GH¢26,000 towards the development of various projects earmarked for the church.
The amount comprises of GH¢10,000 for the Pastors Welfare Fund, GH¢5,000 for the on-going school project, GH¢10,000 for convention expenses, and GH¢1,800 for National Youth sponsorship.
Speaking to the file during a just-ended international convention of the church, which took place here in Anyinam in the Atiwa District of the Eastern Region, the soft spoken chief, who is a member of the church, said the donation was his individual contribution, not only to the church, but towards the development of the nation.
According to him, even though it was the duty of the government to provide and make education accessible to every Ghanaian, it behoves every single Ghanaian to also contribute his or her quota, since the government alone could not do all.
That notwithstanding, Nana Aggrey V has called on the government to channel its resources towards the development of the youth, since they were the future leaders of the country.
Meanwhile, the leader of the church, Prophet David Nkansah, in his speech, appealed to the government, as well as the Ghana Education Service (GES), to recognise the church’s Education Unit which has been in existence for some time now.
His appeal stemmed from the fact that the unit, which has been in existence for many years now, is not recognised by the GES.
In spite of all these and other challenges facing the church, it has been able to put up a new six-unit classroom block at Amuana Praso, in the Birim North District.
