MTN Ghana has re-launched the new face of Mobile Money, which would include payment of electricity and DStv bills for subscribers of the MTN Mobile Money.

The new Mobile Money Bill Payments (MMBP) will offer clients of DSTV and Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) the convenience of paying their bills.

Speaking at the launching of the MMBP, a Deputy Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Mr. Fiifi Kwetey observed that MTN Ghana has been consistent in initiating innovative products and services not only in Ghana, but the world at large.

He noted since majority of Ghanaians do not patronize the banking sector, the introduction of the Mobile Money services would go a long way to provide opportunities for subscribers of MTN to access the sector through the new innovation.

“Innovations such as this are fully endorsed by government and the Ministry of Finance … in lending supports to ensure that these efforts are fulfilling”, the Deputy Minister added.

Mr. Kwetey also said the positive competition being witnessed in the telecom industry would be translated to other sectors of the economy, especially in the banking sector.

On his part, the Mobile Money Commercial Senior Manager of MTN Ghana, Mr. Eli Hini, said MMBP is designed to give subscribers the opportunity to pay their utility bills through their hand sets, without having to physically travel to the service providers. “The MMBP is ideal for all categories of persons who consider convenience as an important ingredient in their daily activities”, Mr. Hini noted.

He added that “As a technologically savvy network, MTN has endeared itself to its valued customers through the deployment of state of the art technology to address their communication, business and social needs”.

Non registered MTN Mobile Money customers can also pay their bills at the nearest Mobile Money authorized merchants across the country.
