MP supports renovation of Traditional Council Hall

from Samuel Agbewode

The Volta Regional Minister, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Buem Constituency, Mr. Henry Ford Kamel, has assured the chiefs and people of the Buem traditional area that he would continue to serve them in the best ways he could to ensure the rapid development of the area.
The MP pointed out that as the representative of the people, he would continue to tackle their development needs, but the support from him alone would not be enough to make the needed impact, and called on citizens of Buem, both home and abroad, to contribute their quota to the development activities in the area.
Mr. Kamel, who gave the assurance when he presented five bundles of roofing sheets to the Buem traditional Council at Bodada, the traditional seat of the Buem traditional area, said he was moved when he was informed about the ripping off of the traditional Council hall at Bodada, a call he had responded to by presenting the items to the Council.
The Regional Minister stressed that he would use his resources as the MP for the area to invest in development activities, and called on the people to continue supporting him, as he commended them for their communal spirit.
Mr. Kamel said he initiated the building of a new traditional council hall at Bodada by providing building materials like cement, while the community provided labour. The MP said the people had demonstrated a high level of commitment to the project, adding that such collaboration would go a long way to advance the cause of the development of the area.
The Gyaasehene of the Buem traditional area and the Chief of Bodada, Nana Osei Abo IV, who received the items on behalf of the Paramount Chief of the traditional area, Nana Aburam Akpangya, lauded the efforts of the MP, saying that the high leadership qualities he had exhibited over the years earned him Deputy Minister for Lands and Forestry, and now the Volta Regional Minister.
Nana Osei Abo described the MP as a hard working and humble person, which made it possible for all to admire him anywhere he goes. He also noted that the Buem representative in Parliament had been on record for registering hundreds of people in the constituency from his resources under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), as well as paid school fees of hundreds of needy students in the area.
The Gyaasehene said the chiefs and people of the area were proud of the MP for serving the people very well, because he had distinguished himself over the years, and that he could be trusted at all levels of leadership.
He again lauded the high respect shown to traditional authorities by the MP, which he said, was comparable to none, and that the chiefs and people would continue to support him.

  1. At least Ford has presented himself as a man who is out to help find solutions to some problems in the Buem.
This scenario has come a long way in making Ford a man with is people. However we the Buems must at times feel responsible for finding solutions to some common problems.
Whilst we salute Ford for this his contrbution,we hope this is not the end of such.
