Iconic golfer, Mona Myers Lamptey, playing on a single handicap of 7, added another silverware to her countless mementos when she returned a score of 74 to win the ladies category ‘A’ Barclays Bank December Medal golf competition at the Achimota Golf Club last Saturday.
Ama Morgan finished second with a score of 75. Monica Sampaney Gambrah recorded a score of 67 to win the ladies group ‘B’ event, while Mercy Bannerman placed second with 71 score.
E.M Kwame, also playing on handicap 7 returned a 68 score to emerge winner in the men’s category ‘A’ event, with Kofi Kusi Boateng and EK Amezado, nicknamed golf priest, recording 68 and 70 scores to place second and third respectively.
M. Obeng Appiah grabbed the men’s ‘B’ event with a 67 score, while Bob Evans followed with a 69 score.
For their efforts, they received trophies and other special souvenirs as their prizes.
The Managing Director of Barclays Bank Mr. Ben Dabrah, congratulated the participants for honouring the invitation as well as making the December tourney a success. He pledged his outfit’s continued support for the monthly competition. “I thank the management of the Club for allowing us to contribute to the development of Golf in the country, as well as the staff of Barclays for their support.
Club captain Mr. Mike Aggrey thanked the bank for the twelve months sponsorship and requested for the renewal and continuation of the sponsorship.
In a related development, the Hon. Secretary of the Club, Jacob Nii Ahmah Aryee played a Hole-in-one on Hole 12, during the competition.
