Media personnel tour Zoil Technologies

By: Alfred Adams

Media personnel have toured the facilities of Zoil Environmental Technologies, a waste treatment firm operating at the Takoradi Port. The tour afforded the media personnel the opportunity to have first hand information about the operations of Zoil.

The tour first took the journalists to the Takoradi Harbour, where the firm discharges waste from the various vessels and ships that dock at the port.

The waste could take the form of oil and water s among others that are discharged by the vessels.

The waste which hitherto was being discharged by the vessels on the high seas is discharged by the firm.

The firm pumps the waste from the vessels and stores it in chemical drums for onward forwarding to its operation site for final treatment. The vessels are also giving waste discharging certificates.

At operation site, the firm has four sections through which the waste is taken through for treatment. Interestingly, the waste, after treatment, is moulded into blocks and used for industrial purposes.
