THOUGH there are few corporate organisations with the heart of giving back to society, one such organisation, which is currently leading the path in the corporate social responsibility drive in the Adansi Traditional area, is the Obuasi-based Mining and Building Contractors (MBC) Limited, a leading construction firm in the mining development and building construction industry.

Over the years, MBC has been committed to its social responsibility within its operational areas, with the latest being a GH¢3,000 scholarship a term awarded to ten selected inmates of the Adullam Orphanage in Obuasi, who are pursing various programmes of studies in some Senior High schools in the country.

At a colourful ceremony to officially announce the scholarship package, the Managing Director of MBC, Mr. Innocent Munikwa, explained that the company was moved by the plight of the children.

He said the inmates could become great assets to the nation if given the necessary care, and that was why “MBC has decided to assist in this direction.”

He added that the company, in November this year, donated over GH¢1,000 to the Obuasi Municipal Health Directorate to support the annual immunisation programme, and reminded companies in the municipality of their role in the development of the country.

An official of the home, Peter Uka Badu, thanked the management of MBC for the gesture, and appealed to others to emulate their kind gesture.

The MD was accompanied by Mr. Stephen Boadu, Human Resources Manager of the company.
