Make Life Better For The Rural Folks … Nana Susubribi Tells Gov

 

Nana Dr. Susubiribi Krobea Asante, Omanhene of Asokore, has called on the government to do more to open up the rural areas, to make life better for the population.
He said although some progress had been made over the years, a lot needed to be done to help the people in those areas out of the deprivation, adding that their roads, largely remain poor, and there is lack of safe drinking water and electricity.
Nana Dr. Asante made the call when he toured a number of farming communities in his traditional area, including Ahensan, Akokoaso, Naama, Senchi, Odurokrom, Okaikrom, Attakrom, Atonso and Ahwerewa.
He was there to interact with teachers and school children, and to learn at first hand their main challenges, and what the traditional council could do to fix some of these.
He said everything should be done to ensure that the rural population is given their fair share of the “national cake”, and promised to make sure that more brilliant but needy school children in the area benefit from a scholarship scheme he had established.
Nana Tweneboah Kore II, Akwamuhene of Ahensan, complained about the lack of electricity in the community. Something, he said, was affecting the teaching and learning of information communication technology (ICT).

Madam Leticia Omane, Headteacher of the Ahensan Primary and Junior High schools, appealed for text books and accommodation for the teaching staff.
