Kumasi motorists call for re-construction of road

A main road of international repute, which is being used by motorists from inland countries such as Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger and others, and also serves as the first point of call for visitors visiting the Garden city by air, the airport roundabout-Krofrom road is begging for re-construction.

The road, which was constructed by Limex Bau, a German construction firm, can no longer be described as a good road. This stretch of road, about 100 metres, has become a canker to motorists plying it.

Motorists on this part of the road have to drive very slowly, and this sometimes takes drivers between 10-20 minutes before traversing the bad portions of it.

On days like Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, traffic jams on this road stretches up to the Aboabo road, thus beyond the airport roundabout, this means motorists have to prepare for some hours of driving through that stretch of road.

The Mayor of Kumasi, Mr. Samuel Sarpong, told the Ashanti File that the Minister of Roads and Highways had inspected the road for possible action.

He assured motorists that that road was high on the agenda of the government.
