Kal Tire donates GH¢8,000 to Nsawam Orthopedic Training Centre

A tyre dealing company in Takoradi, Kal Tire Company Limited, has donated an amount of GH¢8,000 to the Nsawam Orthopedic Training Centre. The orthopedic centre was started by Bro Tarcisius De Ruyter SVD, a Catholic missionary, in 1961 to help people who are physically challenged.
Presenting the cheque, the Managing Director of Kal Tire Company Limited, Mr. Graham Lawes, said he had been observing the centre for some time now, after being introduced by a lady nurse friend, and came to the realisation that it was doing very good work.
As a result, his company decided, as part of their social responsibility, to sponsor the cost of the centre to provide service to patients who cannot make it to Nsawam.
According to Mr. Lawes, he hopes his company’s ‘small’ offer would go a long way to relieve the centre of some of its financial burden, while at the same time, bring the needs of the centre to the attention of the public.
In the same year that the center was established, an orthopedic workshop was established to manufacture orthopedic shoes, shoe prostheses, leg braces and artificial limbs.
The workshop currently serves patients from Ghana and surrounding countries.
