The authorities of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) in the Eastern Region have adjudged the Koforidua Central Hospital has the best National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) provider in the region for the year 2010.

This was made known by the Hospital Director, Dr. Daniel Asare, at this year’s get-together, which was organised to celebrate the feat, and award staff for their hard work and commitment towards the vision and mission of the hospital.

Speaking at the function, which was held at the EREDEC Hotel, like the cliché which states that a country which does not recognise its heroes is not worth dying, for Dr. Asare disclosed that the occasion was also to award staff who have worked and held faith with the hospital for the past 30 years.

In all, 35 individuals, made up of 17 nominees for high performance and excellence award, 14 nominees for long service, and four for directors’ special award, were awarded.

They took home materials, including televisions, sewing machines, bicycles, rice cookers, ice chests, table top refrigerators, standing fans, blenders, and microwaves among others.

It was all fun as the awardees, staff and invited guests danced to live band music, performed by the Eastern Regional Police Band.

In a related development, the Newmont Akyem Project and All Nations University, a Koforidua-based private university feted media practitioners in the region.

The get-together was to demonstrate their appreciation to media practitioners in the region for their support and participation in the activities of the two organisations throughout the year.

According to the Communications Manager for Newmont Akyem Project, Mr. Oduro Kwarteng Marfo, his office highly appreciated the efforts and contributions of the media to shape the projects of the company, as well as helping to a build lasting and strategic relationship with stakeholders, especially, communities in which the company operates.
