Joy Herbal Group Fete Workers ….Management Asks For Higher Productivity
In obedience of the cliché, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, management of Joy Herbal Group of Companies, a Suhum-based Company which is into herbal products, printing and other businesses, last Friday treated its workers to a five-star end-of-year party.
Present at the get-together were the directors and stakeholders of the company, including the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dr. Manfred Takyi, Dr. Harrison Tetteh, Managing Director and Dr. Sorgin Enoch, Operational Manager.
The workers, the majority from the Volta and Eastern Regions, shook off the cold weather as they picked up their dancing shoes and danced their hearts out to nice background music amidst the “breaking of bottles”.
After hours of eating and drinking, management of the company presented the workers with various presents including bags of rice, fowls, and drinks for their hard work and commitment.
Presenting the items, CEO Takyi urged the workers to turn away from attitudes that would not help the cause of the company and rather take the company as their personal investment.
According to him, people often forget that the private sector is the engine of growth for the development of the country and engage in a high sense of unethical and moral behaviour when employed in the private sector since they still live with the cliché “the job is not my father’s”
.
Dr. Takyi expressed worry that, such attitude directly or indirect has become a curse for many workers who work for many years and yet cannot either open their own business or acquire any property.
He charged them to give off their best since without the private sector they (workers) would be unemployed because the public sector would is not able to absorb everybody.
Joy Herbal Group which started with only five workers and one product “Joy Ointment” some 15 years ago now boasts of a total work force of over 100, with the management instituting a motivational annual “best worker” award for committed workers.
The proud winner of the maiden award would take home a brand new car.
The workers on the other hand, presented to management a wall frame and other materials for offering them a job.
He assured that notwithstanding competition in the sector, through hard work and prudent management, Joy Group can now boast of five additional products and a printing press. The other products are Joy Mmaah Twedee Misture, Joy Dadi Bitters, Joy Twedee Bitters, Joy Twedee Tea and Joy Medicated Soap.
The company as part of its corporate social responsibility has over the years sponsored a number of national events in the country, including entertainment, sports, festivals, and other social events, with the most recent one being the celebration of the National Farmers Day.
