Joy Herbal Centre Sponsors Kumawood Awards

Joy Herbal Centre, producers of herbal products, has sponsored this year’s Kumawood Award, which is meant to award Kumasi-based actors and actresses, producers and other players in the film and television industry.

The awards night, which took place at the Great Hall of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, brought the cream de la cream of the film and television industry under one roof.

The move by the Suhum-based Herbal Centre forms part of the company’s corporate social responsibility, in an effort to encourage and motivate players in the sector.

Speaking to the Eastern File in separate interviews, the Directors of Joy Herbal Centre, Dr. Manfred Takyi, Dr. Harrison Tetteh and Dr. Sorgin Enoch, said the centre sponsoring the programme was to give back to their numerous customers in the country.

The centre has also over the years sponsored a number of national events in the country, including entertainment, sports, festivals, and other social events, with the recent one being the celebration of the National Farmers Day.

Giving a brief history of the centre, Dr. Takyi said it started with only five workers and one product “Joy Ointment” some 15 years ago, but can now boast of a total work force of 40.

He continued that notwithstanding competition in the sector, through hard work and prudent management, the centre can now boast of five additional products and a printing press.

The additional products apart from “Joy Ointment” of the centre, which has become a household name in the country, are Joy Mmaah Twedee Misture, Joy Dadi Bitters, Joy Twedee Bitters, Joy Twedee Tea and Joy Medicated Soap.
