Nana Obiri Korang II, Chief of Apire near Kumasi, has appealed to the government to consider rehabilitating the five-kilometre Apire-Kumasi road.
According to the Chief, the poor nature of the road has impeded development.
He said the poor road network in the area had compromised the security of the residents, as armed robbers had resorted to ambushing commuters on the stretch of road.
The General Manager of Hope Exchange Hospital, Mr. Dominic Adjei, indicated the bad nature of the road network had affected patronage of the only state-of-the art-health facility established in the locality to serve surrounding communities.
According to him, one of the nurses was nearly kidnapped by criminals on the stretch of road, which looks neglected.
He reiterated the call on the government to come to the aid of the residents.
