The 4 Garrison Officers Mess Gymnasium has been commissioned for both personnel and members of the public to enhance training for improvement in health status.
Brigadier-General Joseph Aphour, General Officer Commanding, noted that the Armed Forces thrives on an integral component of physical training, and that the importance of this in the life of an individual cannot be overemphasized, hence, tireless efforts to construct a gym for personnel of 4 Garrison and the public at large.
He stressed that regular training and work-outs help to maintain a well-balanced physical health, and expressed the hope that it would help augment the weekly training regime they receive from their able-bodied physical training instructors.
He also noted that the gym could help promote and strengthen the rapport between the military and civilians, as they share the benefits of the gym together.
Major General Richard Opoku Adusei (rtd), a former Commander of the Airborne Force in Tamale and Jungle Warfare School, as Guest of Honor, commended the officers commanders for the facility.
He underscored that a gym at the mess is needful to enable them exercise their bodies and stimulate the growth of their minds and body, and improve the overall body mentality and fight against illnesses like blood pressure.
He tasked the caretakers and personnel to take good care of the facility to effectively serve the intended purpose, by adopting the culture of maintenance.
He appealed to the government to fully resource the personnel at all times, to enable them give off their best to help collaborate with other security agencies to ensure peace and security in the country, which is their core mandate.
