The Asutifi North District Assembly, on behalf of the government, has presented 14 motorbikes worth about GH¢120,000 to the Agricultural Department of the Assembly to boost the sector in the district.
The motorbikes, comprising 10 Galaxy brands and four Derbi, are to enable the officers to visit and monitor the activities of farmers in the district, pertaining to the various initiatives introduced by the government.
Mr. Anthony Mensah, District Chief Executive (DCE) of Asutifi North, presenting the bikes to the recipients, noted that continued visitation to farmers by agric officers was key and paramount to improving the sector, hence the need to impact well on farmers and better their living conditions.
He urged them to use the motorbikes for the purpose they are intended for, and not use them for their own businesses, because the assembly would be keenly monitoring them.
DCE Mensah advised them to take good care of the motorbikes, and gave the assurance that “the government will continue to provide you with items to impact positively on farmers.”
The Head of the Agric Department, Mr. James Adu, who received the motorbikes, thanked the government for solving the transportation problem of the officers.
