Kumasi has been thrown into a state of mourning, following the murder of Otumfuo’s Asamponhene, Nana Kwadwo Afordour, over the weekend.
The body of Nana Kwadwo Afordour was found in his vehicle on Sunday August 18, 2019 at about 4.30 pm near Ebuom on the Ejura-Nkoranza Highway.
It is believed the late Chief was murdered and his body deposited at the back seat of his Toyota Land Cruiser vehicle and abandoned at the outskirts of the village.
Three suspects have so far been arrested by the Ashanti Regional Police Command for the gruesome murder of Otumfuo Asamponhene, who was also the Chief Executive Officer of The Golden Eye, formerly X5 pub, at Krofrom in Kumasi.
The Asamponhene plays various roles, including spiritual and traditional, according to Manhyia Palace sources.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command has confirmed the murder of the chief, for which investigations have commenced.
It called on the general public to assist police investigations by volunteering information to police.
According to a press release signed by ASP Godwin Ahianyo, Ashanti Regional Public Relations Officer, the police have commenced investigations into the gruesome murder of the 46-year-old lieutenant.
The police spokesman assured the public that the police command was working earnestly to get the perpetrators arrested, and appealed to the general public to assist police investigations by volunteering information.
The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue in Kumasi.
