Apedwahene seeks intervention of IGP

botchway July 18, 2019

The Chief of Apedwa in the Abuakwa South Municipality, Osabarima Asante Frimpong Manso II, has passionately appealed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), David Asante-Apeatu, to immediately use his office to prevail upon Madam Tina Dua-Agyemang to desist from subjecting him to public ridicule.

This was contained in a petition signed by the Chief to the IGP.

Giving a background to the verbal assault on his personality, Osabarima Manso II stated that he and his elders refused to give or lease a 5.4-acre parcel of land to her, because it has already been leased or allocated to Mr. Joseph Mensah, a businessman.

According to him, the land in question was leased to the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) in 1954, and after its expiration 14 years ago, the late Osabarima of the area, Obenakwa Kwarifa, with the consent of the Okyenhene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin II, leased it to the businessman for the construction of a modern car park.

He continued that the necessary indenture was prepared in the name of the Okyenhene, with the Apedwahene being the seconder, while the Krontihene and Abusuapanin signed as witnesses in the process.

Osabarima Manso II said on August 15, 2018, his elders reported to him that Madam Dua-Agyemang was working on the same land given to Mr. Mensah without any permission from the Overlord of the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area.

The Apedwahene continued that despite that he still insisted that the land in question had already been leased out to Joseph Mensah and cannot be given to any other person, a situation that has resulted in Tina Dua-Agyemang venting her spleen on the Chief.

“On 2nd January, 2019, this thorn in our flesh woman and her gang came to Apedwa and rained insults on me and my wife at the palace for no apparent reason. On 3rd of January, 2019, this Tina woman, again, with her members, came to my private residence with a military man and insulted me and my wife,” he disclosed.

To this end, he has called on the IGP to invite Madam Tina Dua-Agyemang and prevail on her to stop the verbal attacks to avoid any future calamities at the place.
