Ghana’s telecommunication giant, MTN, headline sponsors of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, has handed over a refurbished football training pitch to the team to enhance its performance in the field of play.

Mr. Noel Kojo Gamson, Executive Marketing Officer, explained at  a short but colourful handing over ceremony, that the euphoria in football would not be successful without investment, and that MTN, as headline sponsors of the club, saw the need to invest in the refurbishment of the pitch.

He stated that the refurbishment was not for only the pitch and technical bench, but also goal poles and the fencing of the pitch.

He indicated that the project was MTN’s commitment to the development of football in the region and beyond, and other aspects of human development and empowerment.

He entreated the managers of the pitch and the players to make the best out of the pitch by motivating the players for the club to grow from strength to strength.

Mr. George Amoako, Chief Executive Officer of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Football Club, commended MTN for the kind gesture, and noted that the success stories of Kotoko for over nine years could not have been achieved without the immense contributions of MTN at both local and international tournaments.

He appealed to MTN Ghana not to relent in its efforts in helping the club in other endeavours with an additional pitch and hostels, residential facilities, dressing and changing rooms to make the Adako Jachie Kotoko village a reality.

Nana Opoku Agyeman, Ayeduasehene, who represented Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, also expressed his overwhelming excitement at the contribution of MTN to Kumasi Asante Kotoko Football Club, and pleaded with the management of MTN to consider the completion of the wash room as well as dressing rooms projects, which have been at a standstill.

He called for unity among the Kotoko fraternity, especially the leadership, support base and management to ensure that Kotoko maintains its top position in Ghana.
