The African Youth Assembly for Peace (AYAP), a non-governmental, non-profit making and non-political organisation in Abuja, Nigeria, has conferred a Global Leadership Award on the Bantama Member of Parliament (MP), Daniel Okyem Aboagye, for his outstanding contribution to the promotion of peace in his constituency, the Ashanti Region, and Ghana as a whole.
He received a gold medal, a citation, a plaque, and had the title of Ambassador bestowed on him.
The President of AYAP, Ambassador Yakubu Husein, who decorated the MP with a gold medal at a public ceremony in Kumasi, described Mr. Aboagye as a man of trust and accountability, and a role model based on moral conduct.
He saw the Bantama law maker as somebody who related well with the governing party, traditional rulers, and the youth.
Ambassador Husein noted that the Bantama MP had given the youth, considered to be the most important category of people, the needed opportunity in society.
Mr. Aboagye thanked the leadership of the Nigeria-based NGO for the recognition and honour, and said it would inspire him to do a lot more for his constituents and the country.
