The Oforikrom Municipal Assembly (OMA) has cut the sod for the construction of a three-unit Kindergarten (KG) classroom block for the Appiadu community.
The Queenmother of Appiadu, Nana Amma Serwaah Bonsu, performed the sod-cutting ceremony.
The new KG block, being constructed at the cost of GH¢251,000, would replace an old one considered not safe for the pupils.
The project is expected to be completed in three months.
Later, at a durbar of the constituents to acquaint the Oforikrom Municipal Assembly with the challenges facing the people, the Municipal Chief Executive, Gloria Temmah Gambrah, noted that the Oforikrom Constituency lacked good roads, and promised that with time the Assembly would identify basic needs and challenges facing communities in the area.
According to her, the assembly’s main challenge is security, for which the Security Committee of the assembly is making untiring efforts to address the issue.
The Municipal Chief Executive appealed to proprietors of the various hostels scattered around the constituency to register with the assembly by the end of June this year to work out strategies to address security challenges facing the hostels.
