President Paul Kagame of Rwanda has said that President Muhammadu Buhari is the African Union champion in the fight against corruption.
Kagame made the remark at the National Democracy Day Anti-Corruption summit organised by the Economic and Financial (EFCC) in Abuja on Tuesday, June 11, The Cable reports.
The Rwandan president, who also congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari on his victory in the 2019 general elections, said Nigeria must share resources equitably so that the fight against corruption could be enjoyed by everyone.
He said: “President Buhari, I wish to give you our very warm congratulations on your re-election and best wishes for the entire Nigerian people, on the road ahead.
“I also want to mention here, that President Buhari is AU (African Union) champion in the fight against corruption, and we thank you.”
According to Kagame, corruption must be fought from top to bottom, using four key principles: “culture, responsibility, accountability and effectiveness”.
President Paul Kagame of Rwanda on Tuesday, June 11, arrived Abuja, for his two-day visit. He gave a keynote address alongside President Muhammadu Buhari at the National Democracy Day Anti-Corruption summit.
The summit was organised by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
