Re-echoing the campaign of keeping our environment clean from a popular television advert where a mentally challenged man subjected a man who was urinating indiscriminately to some lashes, a Koforidua-Kumasi bound driver, identified as Nunoo, escaped death after he sustained several cutlass wounds.
This happened when the driver was hacked several times by a cutlass sharpener for urinating in an open gutter in front of his shop near the Koforidua branch of Franco Trading Phone Shop, close to the Kumasi lorry terminal, rather than going to the public urinal.
The victim suffered multiple cutlass wounds on the head and hand, and has since been admitted at the Eastern Regional Hospital in Koforidua, where he is receiving treatment.
The suspect, whose name is yet to be known, has been arrested by the New Juaben South Police Command.
Eyewitnesses say a misunderstanding ensued between the two when the driver defied a warning by the suspect not to urinate in a gutter in front of his shop.
As tempers flared, the driver allegedly slapped the suspect, compelling him to dash into his shop to pull one of the sharpened cutlasses and chased the driver, who had then taken to his heels, but fell down in the process and was butchered by the suspect.
“We were here when we saw the man in this shop chasing someone with a cutlass, so all that I saw was the man cutting the other man who was running, and fell down. There was blood was all over him. He cut the head, the eye side, the ear side, and the hand, because he used it to block some of the cutlass swings, so people run to the scene and managed to arrest the man, and later some nurses were driving to the hospital and picked the injured man into the car.”
