Stories from Isaac Akwetey-Okunor
Drivers and other road users in the Eastern Regional capital, Koforidua, and its environs, have expressed grave concern over the little or no attention accorded the Koforidua-Mamfe road, which has now becom a death trap.
The Koforidua-Mamfe road is seen as a major road that links other towns such as Larteh, Akropong, Amanokrom,Tutu,Obosomase, Ahwerease, Aburi, Madina and the national capital city (Accra).
Notwithstanding the socio-economic usage of this major and busy road, which lies within the jurisdiction of Akuapem-North Municipality, drivers and other road users sit firmly on the their seats and observe an unplanned uncomfortable time when using it.
This follows the lack of road signs and markings on that stretch of road, which induces fear and danger, particularly for drivers.
Drivers who are first time users of the road usually fall prey to some major accidents and various incidents, leading to deaths and major injuries.
Due to this, the drivers and other road users have passionately called on the Ghana Highways Authority to address the situation in order to save lives.
