Construction works on gutters at Debibi Community in the Tain District in the Bono Region have commenced.
Residents in the community have, over the years, petitioned the local authorities for the construction of gutters to enhance the drainage system in the area.
The District Chief Executive (DCE), Madam Charity Akua Foriwaa Dwommoh, said the work, when completed, will pave way for a proper drainage and ensure that the community does not experience unnecessary damages related to water runoff during storms.
The DCE advised the residents to desist from dumping refuse in gutters to enhance the free flow of water when there is rain.
According to her, the persistent flooding of some parts of the country was a result of refuse dumped in gutters and water bodies.
