DCE for Jaman North interacts with cashew farmers

botchway April 26, 2019

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Jaman North, Adane Ankomah, has interacted with cashew farmers on how best to find solutions to the fast decreasing price of cashew, a situation that is negatively affecting farmers in the area.

Representatives of the various communities proposed solutions to curb the worrying trend, with some the farmers threatening to demonstrate.

Mr. Ankomah used the opportunity to clear the wrong impression that he and the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area have conspired with the government of Cote d’Ivoire to take money to open the Sampa Border for the inflow of cashew from La Cote d’Ivoire to Sampa through the borders.

After deliberations as to whether to closing the borders or not, the representatives of farmers suggested of going back to their various communities to consult them as to whether they should allow the District Security Council, which is chaired by the DCE, to close the borders or not.
