From Sebastian R. Freiku, Kumasi .
It has been revealed that the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) currently has 50 legal suits pending in the law courts against it. Out of these, 37 are at the High Court, 10 at the Circuit Court, and three at the District Court, the Mayor, Osei Assibey Antwi, told the 1st Ordinary Meeting of the 4th Session of the 7th Assembly at the KMA Conference Hall on Tuesday April 9, 2019 in Kumasi.
The cases, he said, range from demolition activities carried out by the Assembly, and contractual issues among others, and that although, some of the cases have been dormant for years, others are scheduled for hearing at the various courts.
The Mayor, however, indicated that a number of these cases are also at the settlement stage, while the Assembly has also appealed against various judgments delivered against it in certain cases.
Following these, the Assembly is now cautious in its activities by ensuring that all its activities are within the prescribed rules and regulations of local government.
