MTN Ghana has engaged two Senior High schools, Opoku Ware and St. Louis, in Kumasi, in a blood donation exercise to support the Blood Transfusion Medicine Unit of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).
MTN is targeting 2,500 units of blood this year to help maintain maternal health in medical facilities in the region.
Mr. Nii Adotey Mingle, MTN Northern Business Sector manager, indicated that one of the telecommunications giant’s core pillars is health, and since blood is life, the company responded to the request by the Ministry of Health to mobilise blood to save and improve maternal health and emergencies.
Dr. Shirley Owusu-Ofori, Head of the Transfusion Unit of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, lauded MTN for its annual commitment.
She urged members of the public to make blood donation a habit to ensure that health facilities meet the demand for blood in the face of increasing cases of surgery and emergencies.
