The Ashanti Regional Rent manager, Mr. Douglas McKenzie Kpodoh has recommended that the Rent Control offices in Kumasi be relocated to make it accessible to the aged and people living with disabilities.
He noted that the office is meant to serve all and sundry and therefore it is important for the offices to be relocated because the aged and PLWDs cannot access their services since they cannot climb the stairs to the two storey building.
Mr. Mackenzie Kpodoh told the Ashanti File that since July 2018 to date about 1,972 rent cases has come to his office for settlement an indication that the unit needs a bigger office which would not deny the aged and PLWDs justice.
The rent manager therefore appealed to all well meaning individuals and persons in positions of trust especially, the Ashanti Regional minister, traditional rulers, ministry of works and Housing Metropolitan and Municipal Assemblies as well as civil society organizations (CSO’s) to come to their aid.
Mr. Kpodoh advised landlords to always make reasonable rules and tenancy agreements to regulate tenants.
He explained that the Rent Control Units are meant to ensure peaceful co-existence of landlords and tenants.
