The Atwima Kwanwoma District Assembly, in collaboration with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), has inspected over 40 school buses of private schools in the district to ascertain their worthiness.
It forms part of measures by the local Assembly to ensure comfort ability and safety of children who are conveyed on these vehicles on daily basis.
The DVLA inspectors checked the seats, brakes, headlights, tyres, wipers and wind screens of the vehicles during the exercise, which took place at Atwima Brofoyedru in the district.
The DCE, Nana Okyere Tawiah Antwi, reiterated his commitment to make sure all rickety school buses are taken off the roads, until they are declared road worthy.
He assured that the exercise would be sustained in periodic inspections in a bid to prevent any road mishap.
The drivers commended the DCE for mooting the idea to embark on the exercise in the district. They, however, complained about bad roads in the district to which concern the DCE assured that all the roads in the district have been awarded on contract.
