The Assembly Member for Datano, together with the Unit Committee members and the local Council of Churches in the community, has organised a fundraising ceremony in aid of self-help projects for the community.
The Assembly Member, Mr. Kwame Amponsah, mentioned some of the projects to be undertaken under the exercise as a modern market, lorry park, and a lay-out project to enhance the beauty of Manso Datano in the Amansie South District.
He appealed to the people to embrace self-help projects that would help raise the living standards and bring a face-lift to the community.
Mr. Amponsah thanked the government for bringing the School Feeding Programme to many schools in the area, and noted that it had helped to significantly increase intake into schools this academic year.
He also commended the newly-created Amansie South District for support in the completion of a four-classroom block with an office and a store for the local school.
The Unit Committee Chairman, Mr. Prince Appiah Kubi, admonished the community members to rekindle the communal spirit of helping each other in the development of the area.
Pastor Ofori Agyemang, Chairman of the Council of Churches, thanked the community for the massive support towards the fundraising ceremony, and pledged spiritual support through a quarterly “Prayer and Fasting” programme.
An amount of GH¢19,000 was realised at the ceremony, which was presided over by Nana Kwame Boateng, Gyaasehene of Manso Datano.
