A Germany based non-governmental organisation (NGO), Madamfo Ghana Foundation, has donated 100 dual desks and five tables and chairs for teachers to the Seikwa Tainso Presbyterian Primary School in the Tain District in the Brong-Ahafo Region.
The pupils of the school could not hide their joy when the desks were presented to them, since they would no longer sit on the bare floor of the classrooms to read or write.
Mr. Michael Donkor, Programmes Manager of Madamfo Ghana Foundation, said the aim of the foundation is to assist in the execution of development projects in the country, and that all of their projects are executed in close co-operation with the local people.
Presenting the desks to the District Chief Executive (DCE) of the area, Mr. Donkor said it was to help solve the shortage of desks in the school.
According to him, the Foundation receives help from private individuals, companies, co-financing organisations, and service clubs to execute its projects
The District Chief Executive, Lawyer Charity Akua Foriwaa Dwommoh, thanked Madamfo Ghana Foundation for the numerous projects in the district
She called on parents to support their wards to complement the efforts of teachers, the government and other donor organisations to improve teaching and learning in the district.
The Assistant Headteacher of the school, Mr. Eric Akumfi Ameyaw, appealed to the authorities to help the school with teachers’ quarters, since tutors in the school are currently sleeping in pairs, and other logistics to enhance teaching and learning
