A 30-member Police Wives Association (POLWA) for the Amansie West District has been inaugurated at a colourful ceremony at Manso Nkwanta, the district capital, with Mrs. Philomena Takyi as its President.
The association aims at fully supporting their husbands in the discharge of their duties as peace officers.
The Regional President of the Association, Mrs. Hagar Appiah, said the inauguration of the Amansie West Police Wives Association would go a long way to encourage police personnel in the district to work harder and foster good relationships among them.
The District Chief Executive for Amansie West, Mr. Nil Larteh Ollenu, in a message read for him, thanked the members for forming such an association, and urged them to avoid gossiping among themselves, which undermines the effective operations of police officers.
The District Police Commander, Superintendent Mr. Ohene Takyi, commended the women for their bold attempt to form the association. To him, it is one way of keeping cordial relationships between them and their husbands, and asked them to keep it up.
He said the work of a policeman is to protect life and properties, and appealed to the general public to co-operate with the police in the discharge of their duties
