From Sebastian R. Freiku, Offinso   .

A middle aged woman, Madam Ama Bissiw of Asamankoma, near Offinso in the Ashanti Region, who has formed a syndicate with the intention of partnering pastors to dupe unsuspecting members of the public, has appeared before the Offinso Traditional Council.

She is helping the chiefs to identify persons she had trained with the intention of conniving with pastors to deceive the public.

Madam Bissiw is said to be running a training centre for fraudsters in her house, and has trained more than 100 persons to feign various ailments and aid pastors to defraud people who want spiritual breakthroughs.

She said the trainees are deployed all over the country to help pastors perform “miracles”. The fraudster admitted before a sitting of the Offinso Traditional Council on Tuesday that some of her trainees are now agents who recruit people to act as sick persons and get miraculous healing from unscrupulous pastors.

According to Madam Bissiw, some of the trainees feign blindness, barrenness and disabilities of all forms, in order for the pastors to heal them at churches for a fee.

Madam Bissiw cited economic hardship as the reason for indulging in that practice, which she has vowed never to return to, after the exposure.

The fraudster indicated that most of the miracles in the churches are fake, and that she would name all the pastors she had partnered to deceive the public in the course of the investigations, in order that they (pastors) are exposed and shamed.

One of her trainees, Afia Antwiwaa from Naamong, who is in critical health condition, also appeared before the OTC to make stunning confessions to collaborate Madam Bissiw’s admissions.

The Offinso Traditional Council, presided over by Nana Wiafe Akenten III, Omanhene of the Offinso Traditional Area, assured the women of protection while investigations continue.

He said the Council would stop at nothing to bust such syndicates and rid the area of fraudsters.
