Newmont Ghana has donated a brand new 16-seater Nissan Urvan bus to the Ghana Institution of Surveyors (GhIS) to assist with the training and development of its members.
At a handing over ceremony in Accra, the acting Regional Senior President of Newmont Africa, Mr Joshua Mortoti said: “We took up the challenge to support the GhIS because of the important role being played by the institute.
“At Newmont we value the development of people and as a key strategic partner of development in Ghana, presenting to the GhIS a tool they need in developing surveyors for this country is key, which is why Newmont is associated with this donation today.”
He further stated that a number of Surveyors work for Newmont Mining Company and are also members of the GhIS.
“Therefore, to make the Ghana Institution of Surveyors more effective in the discharge of their mandate in developing Surveyors for Ghana, we decided to support them.”
With a thankful heart, the President of the GhIS, Mr Egbert Kwadzo Hohoabu, expressed appreciation to Newmont Ghana for the donation and assured the mining company that, the bus would be used for the main purpose for which it was donated.
