The 1982 Year Group of the Old Students Association of Toase Senior High School has donated 250 modern chairs and mosquito nets worth GH¢11,000 to their alma mater at Toase in the Atwima Nwabiagya Municipality.
Mr. Eric Berko, interim Chairman of the association, explained that the gesture was to help improve the health condition of the students, especially in the evening.
Mr. Serebour Quaicoe, Board Chairman of the school, who is also the Ashanti Regional Director of the Electoral Commission and an old boy, commended his colleagues for the kind gesture and called on other old students’ associations to emulate the shining example of the 1982 Group.
Mr. J. K. Dankwah, Headmaster of the school, who received the items, expressed his profound gratitude to the group, saying that they had come at the right time when they needed help, adding that the school is facing a lot of challenges, and, for that matter, the support would go a long way in serving the increased student population of over 4,000.
He disclosed that the school would need 3,000 chairs to accomplish its objective regarding furniture.
The 1982 Year Group was impressed by the performance in the 2018 West Africa Senior Secondary Certificate Examination results, as over 98% of the students qualified to enter the various tertiary institutions, and commended the Board of Governors, Parent Teacher Association and the teachers for the motivation and the pragmatic measures, resulting in the good performance.
