Nokware Ahennie Kuo, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), has, in conjunction with Quantum Idea Charity Organisation, donated items worth GH¢14,000 to the Bekwai Destitutes Home being managed by the Department of Social Welfare.
Some of the items donated to the home include second hand clothing, cooking oils, soap, detergents, bags of rice and soft drinks.
Mr. Kwadwo Amankwah, Founder of the organisation and a native of Essumeja-Asantemanso in the Asante Bekwai Municipality, said at the launch that the gesture is to partner the management of the home and give it some relief in the day-to-day running of the home.
According to him, the mission of the organisation is to enlighten Ghanaians, especially, the youth, on the need to develop the passion of helping one another, and, most especially, the needy in society.
He observed that the only way one could contribute enormously to the socio-economic development of a society is to be patriotic and champion the cause of developement in diverse ways.
Madam Akua Adutwumwaah, Manager of the home, who received the items, commended the organisation for the kind gesture, and promised to use them for the intended purpose.
She appealed to other civil society organisations, philanthropists, and corporate bodies to emulate the example of the Nokware Ahennie Kuo to help maintain the inmates of the home.
