Stories from Ernest Best Anane .
Mr. David Kwasi Asare Boakye, Chief Executive (DCE) of the Offinso North District Assembly, with the support of Mr. Augustine Collins Ntim, Member of Parliament (MP) for the area and Deputy Minister of Local government and Rural Development, have distributed 500 mono desks worth GH¢80,000 to some selected schools.
They were funded from the District Development Fund (DDF) and distributed to ten schools to improve teaching and learning and raise the standard of education in the district.
The beneficiary schools included Afrancho D/A Primary, Afrancho Methodist Primary, Akrofoa Primary, Bobra Primary, Nyinatasie Primary, Sarfokrom Primary, Tanokwaem Primary and Tawiah/ Nfantekrom Primary.
The DCE revealed that the MP’s contribution to education dates back to 2005 and commended him for the immense support to the Education Directorate.
He assured the Parent Teacher Association (PTA)/SMC of supporting the Assembly to embark on self-initiated community projects with cement and roofing sheets to help those communities, in order not to always be dependent on the government.
He entreated the beneficiary schools to cultivate the culture of maintenance and keep the furniture well and not see them as state property which do not need proper care.
Mr. Asare Boakye cautioned parents and guardians to take a keen interest in their wards, and cautioned them against the dangers of hard drugs like tramodol and Indian hemp, because they could endanger their future aspirations of becoming good citizens.
He urged them to guide the children to focus on their books and avoid watching video games, attending wake keepings, gambling and indulging in other social vices could make them a liability to both their families and society at large.
