The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Brong-Ahafo Region is set to vet 45 aspirants, who, at the close of nominations on Tuesday, July 24, had successfully submitted their forms to contest the different positions of the party in the region.
The Chairman of the Brong-Ahafo Regional Election Committee of the NDC, Mr Kwame Aning Frimpong, told The Chronicle in an interview on Sunday in Sunyani, that the vetting seeks to ascertain the eligibility of each candidate, and is scheduled for Thursday to Sunday, August 02 to 05, 2018.
A former Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister and also Ghana`s Ambassador to Algeria during ex- President John Dramani Mahama’s administration, Mr Kwadwo Nyamekye-Marfo is going unopposed as the Regional Chairman.
The Vice-Chairmanship position is a race between three personalities – Mr. Kwadwo Takyi-Arhin, a football administrator, and the incumbent Regional Youth Organiser, Mr Ibrahim Gariba and Mr Nasiru Yusuf.
The incumbent Regional Secretary, Mr Dennis Yeboah Twumasi, is retaining his position, because no one contested him.
However, Mr. Mohammed Seidu, the current Regional Organiser, is facing stiff opposition from Messrs Akwasi Lampo and Prince Opoku Mensah.
The other positions are, Deputy Organiser (3), Treasurer (2), Deputy Treasurer (2), Communication Officer (3), Deputy Communication Officer (2), Youth Organiser (4), Deputy Youth Organiser (8), and Zongo Caucus Coordinator, Alhaji Baba Awudu Gausu, a former Regional Organiser, unopposed.
