The Nanumba South District Assembl,y in collaboration with Ghana Social Opportunities Project (GSOP), is raising 70,000 cashew seedlings in preparation towards the government’s Planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD) initiative.
The District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, Mr. Nantogmah Ibrahim Munkaila, has visited the nursery for the second time to ascertain progress.
He encouraged the farmers working at the nursery to take their work seriously, as much of the assembly’s economy would be hinged on cashew production.
Mr. Ibrahim Munkaila further assured the farmers that the government is committed to boosting the fortunes of cashew to make it one of the leading cash crops to rake in foreign exchange for the country.
That, he noted, will inure to the economic growth of the people in the district, as they are directly in involved in production.
